Case Study 1 – “Elvis”
This client is an Elvis Impersonator who only performs for charities and does not
charge for his services. His only income is state benefits. He was investigated by HM Revenue and Customs who had information about his ‘Elvis’ activity and also some anonymous information about earnings from car repairs.
He had been handling the enquiry himself but was struggling to cope with a tenacious Inspector of Taxes who had already insisted on seeing Elvis’s private bank account statements.
I was asked to intervene and help and by talking to the client’s wife I was able to
persuade HM Revenue and Customs that they were wasting their time. What little
money Elvis had accumulated had come from a Criminal Injuries Compensation claim
and he, along with his son, repaired family cars for no monetary gain.
I was thankfully able to get agreement to close the investigation on the same day
the case was referred to me. The clients wife sent a thank you
e-mail:-
“I would just like to take some time to thank you immensely for professionally resolving
my concerns so quickly and efficiently. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish
you the very best for the future and would have no hesitation in recommending your Company in the future.”
